Thanks to all of you who played at Indian Woods and/or Raider Rally this week! You added so much energy and fun to those events! On Friday, 1st hour band arrives at 7AM so we can go out to the courtyard and play for the students as they arrive for the first full day. Pace, the cheerleaders and Rocky the Raider will be helping us out! When we are done in the courtyard, we will come in a play to refresh our memories on the Puppet Master music. We will hit the field on Monday! 5th hour will also play inside on Friday during class so bring those instruments! We want to get comfortable with our pregame and stand music. Everyone please bring a combination lock so that you can pick your locker to store your instrument and stuff. And remember, uniform fitting is in the band room this Saturday from 10-5. It may take up to an hour if you come at a crowded time but most will get through much quicker.

I hope everyone is doing well and we can stop the spread of COVID within our group. I wanted to share some dates that the band has in the coming weeks: -Monday, 8/8, Indian Woods Welcome Picnic-Arrive by the IW band room by 5:30PM, finished at 6:15. This is voluntary but highly encouraged for all 1st hour band members. Traditionally, this is a required event for the entire band but since the date is a little earlier this year and since camp was shut down, it is voluntary. That said, it is a big community event that gives the band a lot of exposure and it is fun! Please wear a band shirt of something Southish. The band room will be open at 5PM if you need equipment. We usually use IW equipment for pit members. -Tuesday, 8/9, Raider Rally, I believe the time will be, arrive 6:30-done by 7:15. This is for section leaders and officers and other upperclassmen that want to join. We team up with the cheerleaders and play for a brief welcome pep rally for the incoming freshmen. -Friday, 8/12-1st hour arrives at 7AM to play for students as they arrive for the first full day of school. Please wear a band shirt of something Southish! -Monday, 8/15, 7-8:30PM-Our first Monday Night rehearsal for 1st hour band. This is required and worth 50 points. -Wednesday, 8/17, 7-7:30AM-Our first Wednesday morning rehearsal for 5th hour band. During these rehearsals, we join the 1st hour band to work on pregame. You will be excused in plenty of time to make it to your 1st hour class. These are required and worth 50 points. -And don't forget that Mattress Sale on 9/10! Spread the word to get as many people to come to the sale as possible. This is the first of our two main fundraisers! Watch for more info!
