First, thanks to Angela Wang and Stan Piezuch for sponsoring an experiment this morning. Two very talented and energetic swing dance teachers came and taught symphonic band the basics of East Coast Swing! Everybody was game! What fun! Experiment a success!
And tomorrow (Saturday) is a great time to put those new moves in action! Come join us at Evening of Jazz in the cafeteria! The doors open at 7:00 and the music swings from 7:30-10PM. The SMS and IW Jazz Bands play but all money raised goes to the full band program. This isn't a concert, it is more of a party with snacks, dancing and great music! Come and go as you please...great atmosphere! Tickets are 12.00!
The Spring Concert is Tuesday night at 7:00. Students in their all-black uniforms arrive at 6:30. The concert will sound great with some exciting music! There will be awards, the annual senior video and a reception honoring out seniors after. Come join us for a great show!
If you want to start preparing for next year's auditions, the list of music was published this week at this link https://ksmea.org/excerpts-repertoire/ This is the music we will use for our symphonic band auditions, jazz band chair placement auditions as well as District and State Band and Jazz Band. Get a head start! The best idea is to start lessons, if you don't already, and work with a teacher over the summer so you are totally ready when auditions come around. Good luck!
