At tonight's zoom meeting, I told everyone that Wednesday would be the last day of band "conditioning." The Johnson County Dept. of Health has placed the county "in the red" in their gating protocol and band is considered a "risky" activity. Though the district would allow us to continue until Friday, I have decided that if what we are doing now would not be allowed next week or when school starts, we should wrap up out practices tomorrow.
I am so proud of the work the students have been doing in respect to our band goals and their respect for the COVID guidelines during out conditioning sessions. I hate to stop this week's work but it is the smart call for everyone's health.
If students need to rent a concert instrument, tomorrow would be a good day to get it. If you can print off a rental form from this website (go to "Parent Boosters" then "Forms"), add student and guardian signatures and send a 60.00 check to SMSD, students can get their instrument tomorrow and take it home with them. I will have hard copies of the forms in the band room if you can't print one at home.
For those doing all-virtual instruction, it looks like I will still get to be you band teacher. That makes me very happy! I look forward to keeping our Raider musicians together!
On a happier note, here is the link to sign-up for this year's Virtual International Rompin' Stompin' Raider Band 5K!
