Hello all!
As we roll toward the end of the quarter and Spring Break, there are a couple of things students need to make sure they take care of.
1. All bands have scale projects that are due next week. 1st, 2nd and 5th hour band all have their major scales due. Jazz Band is responsible for their Dorian scales (and don’t forget you album reviews which are also due next week). This assignment is worth 120 points. Students earn 10 points for each scale they play correctly in the time limit. Those who get all 12 get to ring the legendary flying pig bell! This is a very big project, only the concerts are worth more so make sure it is taken care of.
2. Sign-ups are posted in the band room for students to participate at the Regional Solo & Ensemble Festival which will be held on April 9th at Olathe South HS. The deadline to sign-up is March 4th. When signing up, if the solo requires a piano accompaniment, and most do except for percussion, I need the pianists name and email address. I have to send this in with the registration. Private teachers can often help line up a pianist or ask another student who they are using. I also have a list but the first two resources are more current. Ensembles must have 3 or more members. An important part of playing a S&E Festival is that you MUST have an original copy to play on AND for the judge. You may need to order a second copy of the music so do that soon. Any questions-see Mr. Adams or Mr. Schapker. Those who earn a first division rating at Regionals qualify to perform at State S&E Festival which is on 4/30 in Topeka.
Can I take Adam to see watch and support since he missed the deadline?
Thank you.

Sure, it would probably interesting for him to spend a little time listening to solos.
Steve
Wonderful. He’ll be there. I’ll probably be the parent that takes him. Please let me know if we can help bring anything. Snacks? Water? Thank you. Vianey Caldwell
