-Mrs. Velicer will be in the band room on the morning of Jan 15 to collect second payments (800.00) and forms. Our original information packet asked for proof of application for your passport on this date but what we really need is a copy of your passport because airline tickets can’t be purchased until each student has a passport and they are buying the tickets as a group so hopefully everyone has applied, and the passports are being received. Please give Mrs. Velicer a copy of the information page with picture from your passport as soon as possible.
-Speaking of passports, Mrs. Velicer sent me this: I have been contacted by several parents recently about passport requirements for Germany and Italy. After also confirming this on the U.S. State Department website, it is the case that for both countries, a U.S. passport has to be valid for at least 6 months after the date of departure from each country. So if anyone has passports expiring in December of 2019 or sooner, they will need to renew their passports. I checked the expiration dates on the copies of passports I already have from several students and they are all fine.
Here are the links if you want more info:
-If your medical insurance changed at the new year (or any time between now and the trip), please give Mrs. Velicer a front and back copy of your new insurance card.
-If a student is making different travel plans than our itinerary, such as staying with family in Europe after the band leaves, contact Casey Cole of Super Holiday Tours (800-327-2116 or firstname.lastname@example.org) to make your travel arrangements. Please keep Mr. Adams and Mrs. Velicer appraised of your arrangements.
-Something to try-Duolingo is a free app that you can learn some German from. I’ve been playing around with it and it is easy, fun, and helpful. I doubt I will be anywhere near conversational but every bit helps and will be appreciated by our German hosts and guests.
