As you consider your resolutions for 2019, please consider if serving as Treasurer of the Band Boosters should be on your list. Our current treasurer reaches her term limit at the end of this school year and we need someone to take over. Don’t worry, no accounting or finance background is necessary. We use QuickBooks to track income and expenses and have a former band parent (who is an accountant) who helps with year-end reports and tax-reporting forms. If you can count money, balance a checkbook, and don’t mind some paperwork, this could be the volunteer position for you!
Some parts of the year are busier than others, but the time commitment averages out to about an hour or two per week. The treasurer does not run the fundraisers; there are other volunteers for that! (One thing to know is that currently the bank we use is only open on weekdays from 9-5, so occasional daytime availability is helpful—although their hours could change.) Ideally an interested person would come forward soon to do some shadowing/training this spring before election at the May concert and officially take over once the dust has settled on the Europe trip finances. (Debbie will still be around next year to answer questions and help out as needed, too.)
