Please make sure to take those instruments home and find some time to practice over break. All groups have major performances coming up very soon after break and Concert and Sym band have the state contest about a month away!
Solo and Ensemble Festival is also coming up. We have 42 soloists signed up and 6 ensembles. It is great to see so much involvement. Parents, remember that we need to provide volunteers to cover at least 4 shifts at the festival. Here is the info about it.
The KSHSAA Regional Solo & Ensemble Festival held at Olathe South High School on Saturday, April 4. The expectation for this festival is that each participating program (band, choir and orchestra) from each school line up at least 4 adult volunteers to work a shift as door/room monitors. This is a great opportunity to hear some outstanding high school musicians and help them have a positive performance experience. The volunteer coordinators will make sure no one misses a performance by their own child…you will either be assigned to the room in which they perform or a “floater” will cover for you so you can catch the performance…so you do not need to wait until the schedule is out to sign up. They are using Sign Up Genius to manage the volunteers and you can see more info and access the signup at http://bit.ly/RegionalVolunteers2020. The shifts are 7:00-10:30 am (includes meeting/training), 10:00 am-2:00 pm, and 1:30-5:15 pm. The overlap between shifts allows you to shadow the person for whom you will be taking over for 30 minutes. Lunch will be provided for anyone that is able and decides to work two shifts. Make sure to put our school and program in the comments field so they know with which group you are affiliated.
Please help out if you can!
